La Rouviere childrens colony near Marseilles. (refugee work south of France WWII period)

It has always been my understanding that AFSC organized an ambulance service to serve in Europe before America's entry in World War 1. My father joined a group from Amherst College (he was a town resident, not a student) and worked abroad in the group that named themselves the "Chat Noir". (I have pictures if they interest you.) Although neither he was nor am I Friends, AFSC has always had my support for that reason.
